As a federal credit union, Radius offers the same products and services as a bank. But there are some key differences that benefit you. We believe banking is all about you.

Like all credit unions, Radius is set up as a cooperative and owned by our members. That means we answer only to you, and we take that responsibility very seriously. We’re committed to providing you with products and services that save you money, including lower rates on loans, fewer fees, and higher yields on savings products than banks.
You can enjoy all the benefits we offer simply by becoming a member; and if you live, work or worship in Erie County, you’re eligible for membership.

All you need to do is open a savings account with $25 to become a Radius member and enjoy more friendly, personalized service and products designed to save you money and time. You can even join online!

The credit union was initially organized in 1941 by a group of employees at the Tonawanda Engine Plant who wanted to create a place where they and fellow employees could save and borrow money safely and confidentially at a fair rate of interest.

In 1942, Riverside Federal Credit was officially chartered as a credit union and was named for the location of the plant and the original credit union office near the Niagara River. Through the years, we’ve been committed to working for you, not for profits. To this day, we continue to provide our members with the financial services they need from a traditional bank but with the credit union brand of friendly, personalized service.

In 2017, Riverside was granted a community charter, enabling anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Erie County, NY to join the credit union.

Because the community charter enabled us to extend the benefits of credit union membership far beyond the confines of our initial charter and geographic location, we decided that a new name and brand would better reflect our vision and position us for growth in the Western New York community.

In 2021, Riverside officially became Radius. As part of our brand development process, we identified four pillars that will help us deliver on the Radius brand promise. Whatever you aspire to in life, Radius provides you with the knowledge, encouragement, access and resources to help make it happen.

Throughout the years of growth and change at the credit union, our mission of helping members live their dreams remains the same. We continue to pride ourselves in providing friendly, personalized service. And most importantly, our Radius members remain Radius owners.
